BRC success continues

Coombe Fisheries have retained their Grade A status having been audited against the rigours of the latest BRC standard. This result is our best yet, leaking just 4 minor non-compliances over the entire 2 day audit.

Careful paring back by our consultants at outdo (www.outdo-qm.co.uk) over time has resulted in an efficient and lean Quality Managament System (QMS). This combined with our strategy of giving ownership of relevant areas of the QMS to those that deal with it day in, day out has produced benefits not only to the written QMS, but also to our people and, ultimately, our customers.

Highest award retained

Coombe Fisheries passed the recent BRC inspection against the new Global Food Stndard, Issue 5. This latest version of the standard represents a ratcheting up of the requirements resulting in a much tougher and deeper audit.

We are delighted to have attained Grade A against the standard -  another great achievement which underpins our claims of quality. It is a fantastic reflection on all at Coombe Fisheries, particularly with new personnel in key roles.

Nextday Scallops launched today

Coombe Fisheries Ltd has decided to launch a website aimed solely at supplying Fresh King Scallops to Fishmongers and specialist Seafood Restaurants.

Coombe Fisheries has always sold fresh King Scallops successfully to Europe, but not always so to the UK. The main problem that the company faced in trying to develop its UK sales was that the market is dominated by multiple retailers and traditional wholesalers, both of whom prefer to buy a range of products from one supplier.

However, Coombe Fisheries has had significant success by selling locally in Barnstaple to the main Barnstaple based Seafood wholesaler covering the whole of North Devon, S+P Fish. Coombe Fisheries only ever offers S+P the very freshest scallops with a good roe and this ensures that S+P has a significant advantage compared to it’s competitors who will be buying from more traditional sources.
